MSRP is $1225.00 and $1,100 atTurners and $1,000 out in a Sportsman’s warehouse. I guess we pay more in the Golden State?
I like them.
Do you like the Maxus 2 or the Mossberg 940 pro field better?
They are at far different price levels.
2 Points: The 400 Legend has just slightly more case taper than 350 Legend, which makes the 400 feed NOTICEABLY better than the 350 Legend in the Savage rifles. 2. The 215 grain Win Point Point load has been chronographing over 100 fps faster than the 2,250 on the box out of 20”barrel Savages. Not to slight the 350 Legend, but, IMHO, the above points are practical advantages over a .350.
They Really Need to Make a 21, or 24" Barrel Version of it. ( and """ IT'S """ Not Really An A-5 ! ) it's The Diet Pepsi Version of An A-5.
They are not making them at all at the moment. Try for 2025.
Had the JM pro and loved it. Traded it in toward a Browning Cynergy CX in 12g. Love it as well. Looking forward to their new 940 pro "sporting" to come out. Great vid thanks.
A 270 and a straight wall hunting cartridge is two different worlds. It’s not designed for distance.
It isn't designed for anything.
Thank you Randy! I always enjoy your reviews and am thankful for all the time you put into bringing them to us.
Thanks. I like the 940 a lot more than the porky 930, that had a ported barrel. It is a nice step up.
Sounds like some Benelli owners could benefit from putting a red dot on their shotgun.
Hey Randy, thanks again for the second ''review''! With that kind of ejection from light loads and the point of aim, especially the first 2 shots, and their price point, I don't see how a man could go wrong! Also, with the improved ''tang safety'' as you mentioned, it sounds like Mossberg's listening to it's customers, imho. As I said, thanks again!
It is a big jump up from the 930: www.chuckhawks.com/mossberg_940ProFieldshotgun.html .
A question for my/all our hopeful future, and maybe a video content idea for you. Scenario... I have gotten as old as the hills but I'm still creaking around and still able to hunt albeit very slowly and a little painfully; but the shotguns I have each have an issue that makes them too difficult to hunt with at my advanced age and I need one that will suit me and help and finish up my days in the field. --- What shotgun brand - model - gauge - style should I pick as my last one for easy-recoil, loading, carry, unloading, safety, etc... ? --- No single answer could be right for everyone, of course, but something as a generality for most would be a great answer. --- Thank You.
I'm not clear on what specific issues you are referring to, or what you are hunting. Personally, I consider a 6 to 6-1/4 lb. 20 gauge ideal for most everything. www.chuckhawks.com/20gaugeandthehighqualityshotgun.html . Heavy loads are not needed for dove or quail, and if you use TSS loads, even a ¾ oz. load of TSS #8 is good for wild pheasants to fifty yards.
Nice review both videos. Is the receiver steel or alloy?
Aluminum alloy.
Regarding the chokes..Mossberg website says Accu-set and it also says Briley chokes. You also said Accu chokes. Does Briley make their chokes? Just confused on the relationship there. Thanks.
Great video. Thanks for posting. Inertia action though... will it kick like a mule with heavy 3 " shells ?
It is hard to find a cooperative mule these days to compare. A couple of things: a heavy lead 20 gauge load is 1-1/4 oz. at 1185 fps, not the 1330 - 1400 fps commonly used in 12 gauge. So, you are starting with a lower intensity load, it is only one or two shots per day at wild pheasants, and as it is cooler weather you have built-in padding as a matter of course. The 1-1/4 oz. 1185 fps load is something I never notice when hunting with a 6-1/4 lb. gun that fits. Certainly, a gas gun is softer shooting, as is a heavier gun. A heavy 20 gauge diminishes the purpose of a gun that is carried all day, but is only shot a couple of times.
Browning pump has a tang safety or BPS , had two of them .
Had. The BPS is discontinued. www.chuckhawks.com/Demisebrowning_BPS_Pump.html
7 and 3/4 pounds is too heavy for me thank you.
What do you hunt ,and what is your present shotgun?
Do you ever remove the plug from any shotgun?
Yes, I've had over 55 years of practice.
Thanks for the video. Mossberg did an excellent job.
Big upgrade from the old 930: www.chuckhawks.com/mossberg_940ProFieldshotgun.html .
Does that shotgun have the plug in it for only 3 round loading
Yes.
@@RandyWakeman ok thank you sir
They are so soft with target loads
I have the 930 and love it, i would guess this is over and above that model.
Great review. How would you compare the recoil to the Remington V3's you've reviewed in the past?
Similar-- the old V3 has a better (SuperCell) recoil pad, but is a bit lighter.
Great review, thanks Randy!
Wish companies would drop stickers. Consumers would appreciate it.
Thanks for the review Randy as always!
My pleasure!
I bought one of these in the pro waterfowl and what a piece of sh*t it was. Would function after many rounds cleanings, etc. sent it back for repair and their gun smiths damaged screws, scratched the finish, and put a new barrel on with a crooked rib. Their customer service is awful and their gun smiths are hammer mechanics. I’ll never buy another high end mossberg again.
I've never had significant problems over the last 50 years with Mossberg product. We all have to be careful of one incident reporting.
As always, great straightforward review.
Remington v3 is better...
I agree the Remington V3 in Waterfowl Pro is great!!!
I wish you'd patterned the gun. I'm very curious about how it ll look on a paper target. Thanks for the great work..
I still can.
It will be a great content for the next video. Thanks again.
That's what I wanted to know if the barrel is well regulated. Some new shotguns don't shoot anywhere close to the bead.
ua-cam.com/video/9zJr8FBJYF8/v-deo.html
Why did they stop making them?
Sales.
Thank you for acknowledging the limited options for a 20 gauge and demonstrating that shooting a right handed gun while leftie wasn't so bad. I can't really handle a 12 gauge and true left handed 20 gauges are out of my price range. I might test a right side eject at the range to see how it is for myself
Does it magazine feed stop? which is a great feature..
It has speed-loading, if that is what you mean. Not available until the end of the year, according to Browning.
I’m sold!
Thank you Randy! It's amazing having you around, I have a shotgun question and you generally have the answer!!! Thank you for all you do!!!
That's generous of you: thank you.
@@RandyWakeman I've always been a huge Remington guy and just bought a V3 waterfowl pro from RemArms. Really pulling for them! I'm looking at duck and goose loads, I'm going to order two boxes to test, Remington Premier Bismuth #5 1 3/8 oz. 3" for ducks and then Remington Wingmaster HD 3" 2 shot 1 1/2 ounce. I know they're two separate companies now but I love the heritage.
I've always liked the V3. What RemArms is doing currently is unclear.
props to your audio equipment where you can stand in a hurricane and record clear audio
I'm from Iowa we have the straight wall rules to I've had good luck with the power point for 450 bushmaster
Why you would go with anything but a 357 mag, 44 mag or a 45-70 is beyond me.
See: dnr.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/dnr/hunting/documents/ilsingleshotrifle.pdf .
A full length forty five seventy case is not Legal southern part Of michigan. So you have to cut down case.
@@joelclark2130 M
More dumbass rules in Michigan n that makes little to no sense!!
We have plenty of those rules in Illinois.
Come on man, secure the target on all 4 corners!
If you use less staples, you can save up to 28.5% on your car insurance.

@@RandyWakeman Yeah you gotta save them pennies in IL, with all the tax hikes coming. Sure is a "swell" form of mob rule government over there.
www.tristatehomepage.com/news/study-ranks-illinois-as-the-state-with-the-highest-tax-rate/
From Michigan I drive 3 hours north and hunt public land. I do it to use my 30-06 and to give them the finger. How smart is it to have a guy on public land with a 30-06. I do however know the area I hunt very well. My grandparents lived two plots down for years that's where I spent a lot of time.
If IL would allow the 30-30 win, they would say, you could only use it if you stand on one foot, and one hand behind your back, usinging your non dominate eye.
www.chuckhawks.com/Winchester400LegendorLoser.html
Something like the .360 Buckhammer. I would like to see more rifles and loads.
Seems like cartridge companies are trying to reinvent the caliber wheel.
They must create sales or die. Look what happened to Colt. FJB
I was in the market for an m2 20ga, but opted for an older one. I prefer the higher quality comfort tech. Stock option. I was fortunate to find a traded in as new gun recently.
I'm with you.
She’s a beaut! Look at that wood! Weatherby quality for sure!
Weatherby is doing a lot of things right: the 18i 20 gauge is a good example.
Randy, I appreciate the rescue work you do with shotguns.
The best Weatherby Sorix review on the web! Great detail about the design, manufacturing history, and build. And not to mention the actual cycling under various loads. Perfect! Well done Randy.
I just read your article about them on ChuckHawks - I noticed you mentioned in the beginning of it that they typically manufacture toy/replica guns. I learned my lesson the hard way to not purchase an actual firearm from toy gun manufacturers. I bought a Walther WMP a few months ago (made by Umarex NOT Walther), and it has been an absolute disaster. The only gun I have ever truly regretted buying and have had non stop issues with.
I just bought the browning cynergy after hunting this season and was stuck on that and a beretta, but that cynergy just fit me better and I liked the synthetic stock cause I’m hard on guns and hunt a lot, but I did just pick up an older fabarm competition lion over under in 20 and haven’t gotten it out to shot clays yet so both are giving me some hope that I’ll have a good year hunting! Plus not a lot of people do reviews on fabarm
My mom works there her name is Tina

I converted my 700 MLS over to 209 setup about 4 years ago (2020) after watching this exact video. I am glad and have never wanted to go back to the old Remington Ignition Disks.
